For students seeking jobs and internships, Colby uses “e-Recruiting,” which includes a database of opportunities all over the country maintained by 28 members of the Liberal Arts Career Network and other partner schools. Besides access to jobs and internships posted by employers who recognize the value of a liberal arts graduate, students have the ability to use the network to post résumés and cover letters online, so it’s simple to apply when an interesting opportunity comes up. Colby also keeps a database of jobs and internships posted by alumni—sometimes with advance notice that the position will be open, sometimes exclusive listings for Colby students and alumni.

The Art of the Interview
David Simon, Colby's Jette Professor of Art, consults with a student in his office.Career Services offers students help preparing for interviews—and it arranges plenty of opportunities to put interview skills into practice. Between firms that come to campus and others that take part in various recruiting events in which Colby participates, scores of firms seek out Colby students for interviews each year. Colby participates in consortia that bring students to New York and Boston several times a year for interviews. The most recent list ranges from Abercrombie & Fitch to Zonta International.
