Dear C Club Member:
Colby’s varsity teams are well into their fall schedules.
The start of the new school year marks the beginning of the new C Club membership period. Thank you for your support over the years, and I hope you will renew it this year. The C Club and Colby athletics need you!
Revenues from our paid memberships enable the C Club to bring Colby friends together to support athletic programming. The C Club hosts game-day receptions, sponsors special C Club events both on campus and away, awards “C” blankets to the captains of Colby’s 32 varsity teams in recognition of the leadership they provide for their teammates, and helps with special fundraising projects. C Club membership provides you early notice and discounted registration fees to all special events, plus a subscription to our quarterly newsletter and our e-mail C-Blasts. Please complete and return the enclosed membership renewal form with your membership dues as quickly as possible.
This year the C Club plans to help the Athletic Department pay for webcasting (live video broadcasts available anywhere with access to the Internet) for a number of men and women’s indoor athletic contests. Webcasts provide an opportunity for students, parents, and high school recruits who cannot attend varsity games and meets on Mayflower Hill to see the Mules in action. Look for e-mail notices from the C Club for the dates and times of competitions to be webcast in the coming months.
The C Club will designate any amount you choose to donate in excess of your annual membership dues to the Athletic Department’s webcasting program. When you send in your membership renewal, please include something extra to support this effort.
It is easier than ever to stay connected with Colby athletics. The C Club is pleased to announce the establishment of a number of Colby Team Networks. You can register to join your favorite varsity team’s e-mail network and receive timely information from the coaches by returning the enclosed card.
For 10 years during the Colby-Bowdoin football game, former Colby quarterback Eddie Woodin ’69 has hosted a fabulous tailgating event. This year’s game against Bowdoin will be played on Saturday, November 8, on Colby’s new FieldTurf surface. Eddie will host a tailgating extravaganza to celebrate the first time the Mules meet the Polar Bears in the beautiful new Harold Alfond Stadium and will provide food and drink for Colby alumni before and after the football game—no reservations needed.
Colby is creating a special area for this event inside the stadium fence, behind the football scoreboard. Parking will not be allowed inside the stadium fence, so plan to park in one of the lots behind the press box. Please join Eddie Woodin and other Colby friends and help take tailgating at Colby to another level!
Go Mules!
