Women’s Swimming and Diving
The women’s swimming and diving team finished 13th at the NCAA Division III Championships and captured the CBB title for the fourth straight year. Junior All-American Kelly Norsworthy won three NESCAC titles by capturing wins in the 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke. She then helped the Mules place 13th at nationals by taking fourth in the 100 breaststroke and 10th in the 200 breaststroke. Kelsey Potdevin ’09 was second in the 50 backstroke at the NESCAC meet. Hadley Chatel ’08, Weather Potdevin ’07, and Mary Warlaumont ’07 earned NESCAC Winter All-Academic honors
 
Men’s Swimming and Diving
Men’s swimming had a fine year with a third straight CBB title. Senior All-American Jabez Dewey took fifth in the 100-meter backstroke at the NCAA Division III Championships in Houston. Dewey finished first in the 50 backstroke, second in the 100 backstroke, and third in the 200 backstroke at the NESCAC meet. Ryan Adams ’07 and Patrick Sanders ’08 each earned NESCAC Winter All-Academic honors. Men’s swimming had a fine year with a third straight CBB title. Men's Nordic Skiing
Two men’s Nordic skiers, Fred Bailey ’07 and Nick Kline ’08, made the NCAA National Skiing Championships and had solid showings, while teammate Matt Briggs ’09 was a second alternate. Bailey earned Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) All-East secondteam honors. Head coach Tracey Cote was named EISA Co-Coach of the Year after one of the best seasons in many years. Michael Collins ’08, Bill Whitledge ’08, and Anders Wood ’07 all made the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team.

Kathleen Maynard ’09 was the top women’s Nordic skier and nearly made the NCAA Skiing Championships. The team got help from Amanda Ivey ’10, who had a number of top-20 finishes.

 
Men's Alpine Skiing
In men’s alpine skiing Jody Centauro ’08 went back to the NCAA National Skiing Championships for the second straight year, and Josh Kernan ’10 went as well. Centauro placed 22nd in the slalom and 24th in the giant slalom at the national meet. Kernan was 20th in the slalom and 25th in the giant slalom. Ryan Praskievicz ’07 earned NESCAC Winter All-Academic honors.

Women's Alpine Skiing
The women’s alpine team got a boost from first-year skiers Dana Breakstone, Emily Colin, and Laura Littman. All three had top-20 performances at the EISA meets this year. Brett Wagenheim ’09 made the NESCAC Winter All-Academic squad.

Men's Hockey
The men’s hockey team had two
All-Americans for the first time since 1962, when Ron Ryan ’62 and Frank Stephenson ’62 were honored. Arthur Fritch ’08 and Greg Osborne ’07 earned that honor this year as the Mules finished 14-9-2 and made the NESCAC semifinals. Fritch made the first team after leading NCAA Division III defensemen in scoring with 12 goals and 25 assists for 37 points. Osborne was selected to the second team and was honored as the NESCAC Player of the Year as New England’s best American-born player in Division II or III after leading the Mules in scoring (21 goals, 20 assists, 41 points), goals, and power play goals (11). A senior captain, Osborne became the 13th player in program history to exceed 100 points and finished his career with 48 goals and 57 assists for 105 points.
 
Forward Josh Reber ’08 was on the NESCAC second team after finishing with nine goals and 25 assists for 34 points.

Patrick Rutherford ’07 (9 goals, 13 assists) earned NESCAC Winter All-Academic honors, and senior goalie Ben Grandjean had a fine .914 save percentage and ended his career with a 30-17-4 record.

Women's Hockey
The women’s hockey team ended a goal short of returning to the NESCAC semifinals, falling in overtime to Hamilton College in a quarterfinal game on the way to a 9-11-5 season. The Mules are still a very young team, with their top seven point producers sophomores or younger. Laura Anning ’09 led Colby in scoring for the second straight year, with 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points. Genevieve Triganne ’08 and Victoria Work ’08 both made the NESCAC Winter All-Academic squad.

Men's Basketball
The men’s basketball team went 15-11 and made the NESCAC semifinals behind the play of co-captains Nick Farrell ’07 and Drew Cohen ’07. Farrell earned NESCAC firstteam honors after leading the conference in scoring at 19 points per game. He finished his career with 1,087 points and 396 assists. Cohen ended his career with 1,208 points, 674 rebounds, and 287 blocked shots. He averaged 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 84 blocked shots this season despite missing a few games with an injury. Michael Westbrooks ’07 finished his career with 740 points, 495 rebounds, and 207 assists. Kevin Shers ’07 earned NESCAC Winter All-Academic honors.

Women's Basketball
In women’s basketball, junior forward Katie McCabe earned All-State secondteam honors, and first-year forward Alison Cappelloni ’10 was on the All-State Rookie Team. McCabe led the NESCAC in field goal percentage (.526) and was first for Colby in rebounding (7.0) and second in scoring (12.0). Cappelloni was the only first-year player in the NESCAC to be in four of the eight individual statistical categories kept by the league. She was fourth in blocked shots per game (1.70, 39 total), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.333), 15th in scoring (11.0), and 15th in rebounding (6.3).

 
Women’s Indoor Track
In women’s indoor track senior distance runner Karen Prisby earned All-America honors after placing sixth in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Prisby had a school-record time of 17:05.73 at the NCAA meet to shatter her own personal-best time by 12 seconds. Prisby also won a Maine State title in the 3,000 meters. Devan FitzPatrick ’09 won a Maine State championship in the 1,000 meters. Anna King ’08 was second in the New England Division III Championships in the 5,000 meters, and Allison Cogbill ’07 had the same result in the 5,000 meters at the Maine State meet.

Jennifer Anderson ’07, Rebecca Anderson ’07, Chantal Balesdent ’08, Anna Bruno ’07, Anna King ’08, Sharon Fuller ’08, Kirsten Davis ’07, Jamie O’Connell ’08, Brianna Tufts ’07, and Jessica Young ’08 all earned NESCAC Winter All-Academic honors.

Men’s Indoor Track
The men’s indoor track team made an impact at the State of Maine Championships with four winners. Ian London ’07 won the 800-meter run, Bob Glotfelty ’08 took the 1,000 meters, Dan Vassallo ’07 captured the 5,000 meters, and the 3,200-meter relay team won a state title. Vassallo took third in the 3,000 meters at the New England Division III  Championships and fourth in the 5,000 meters at the Open New England Championships, where he was the top Division III runner racing against Division I, II, and III athletes.

Brent Aigler ’08, Glotfelty, Dan Moss ’08, Kyle Smith ’08, Vassallo, and Roy Wilson ’07 all earned NESCAC Winter All-Academic honors.

Women's Squash
Colby women’s squash was 14-11 in matches and ended the season with a national ranking of 14. Samantha Smith ’10 played the tough first position in her first year at Colby and earned team rookie honors. Stacy Petro ’08 played the second spot, and Nina Delano ’08 was the third position player. Kate Dziedzic ’07 was the captain of the team and earned team most valuable player and most improved player honors at the eighth position. She also earned NESCAC Winter All-Academic honors.

Men's Squash
The men’s squash team had a national ranking of 24 after going 8-16 behind the play of team captain and most valuable player Andy Carr ’07, who played the third
position. Jake Leiby ’09 was the only Colby athlete to play at the Individual Singles Championships. Drew Moreland ’07 and Brett Willis ’08 both made the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team.
