In 2004, the men's soccer program held a "Day of Champions" for the 1978 and 1993 Colby teams that won Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) titles.
Current head coach Mark Serdjenian '73, who will enter his 31st season as coach next fall, was the coach of both the ECAC championship teams. Serdjenian earned a milestone in 2003 when he won his 200th game at Colby.
Colby's program started in 1959, and head coach Mike Loebs was 29-4-2 in the squad's first three years, including an undefeated and untied opening season.
All-time leading scorer Mark Burke '86 was a three-time All-America selection from 1983 to 1985. Brian Wiercinski '92, Patrick Skulley '94, and Graham Nelson '98 also earned All-America honors.
The Colby women's soccer team started in 1979 and has been one of the top teams on campus over the past 10 years.
Current head coach Jennifer Holsten '90 is the all-time women's soccer coach wins leader at Colby. She led the Mules to the NCAA Tournament during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. Colby also played in the ECAC Tournament in 1995, 1996, and 1999.
Jenna DeSimone '98, one of the fine players during those ECAC and NCAA tournament appearances, was a three-time All-New England pick in her final three seasons at Colby. DeSimone was also an All-American in her senior year and is the only women's soccer player to have her jersey retired.
Colby had a young team in 2003 with 10 first-year players on the roster in an 8-5-1 season. Laura Williamson '07 was named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year after scoring 14 goals and was among the top 30 Division III scorers in the country.
Williamson broke the single-season goal-scoring record of Christine O'Donnell '03, who is the College's all-time leading scorer in women's soccer with 95 career points (43 goals, 9 assists).
One of the program's earliest top players may have been Jeffra Becknell '82, who was the team's most valuable player the first three years of the program.
