Are spouses, partners, significant others, and kids invited? Absolutely! We encourage returning alumni to bring their entire family. All activities and programs are open to anyone who is on campus for the weekend. Are non-reunion classes invited? Yes, alumni who are not part of an official reunion class but who would like to attend are welcome to do so. Off-year alumni should register with the class closest to their own class year. Can I just walk in without preregistering? We strongly encourage you to preregister online, by phone (207-859-4310), or by mail. We cannot guarantee availability of dorm housing or meals if you do not preregister. We also want to have a registration packet ready for you. Where do I go when I arrive on campus? Your first stop should be the registration area, located in the Schair-Swenson-Watson Alumni Center. Upon arrival, alumni can check in to receive a packet with a nametag, weekend schedule, maps, and class memorabilia. Meal tickets and room keys will also be available, if applicable. What meal options are available on Friday evening? Members of the classes of 1937, 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957, and 1962 are invited to a special dinner on Friday evening. For everyone else, the Joseph Family Spa and the Marchese Blue Light Pub will be open on campus. Local restaurant information will be available in the registration area in the Schair-Swenson-Watson Alumni Center. What type of childcare and programming is provided? Friday Free drop-off childcare is available Friday afternoon during the faculty lectures in the Diamond Building. Parents must check children in and remain in the building at all times. The Pulver Carnival Friday evening includes activities appropriate for children. Saturday A family fun afternoon begins at 2 p.m., following the lobster bake, and is open to children of all ages. Children attending this event must be accompanied by an adult or preregistered in the childcare program. Saturday evening childcare is open to babies through age 12 and requires preregistration ($30 per child). See children's programs for more information. I have a child who would like to interview at Colby. Can that happen during reunion? A limited number of interview times are available for children of Colby alumni on Thursday and Friday of reunion weekend. Please contact Admissions at admissions@colby.edu or 207-859-4800 to schedule an interview. How can I find out if someone from my class is coming? Please select your class year from the appropriate menu in the upper left section of this page to see who's planning to attend. If I’m staying in a dorm, do I need to bring my own linens? No. If you preregister for dormitory housing, we will provide a twin bed, a pillow, sheets, a blanket, and a towel. You may want to bring an extra pillow or blanket depending on your preference. Yes, alumni preregistering to stay in the dorms may request to be paired with or located near friends. Please indicate this on your registration form and we will try to accommodate your request. The earlier you register, the more likely we can do it. Please be advised that shared rooms will not be assigned until all roommates have registered for reunion with Alumni Relations. I have particular needs related to accessibility. What should I do? Colby College is committed to making its campus accessible to persons with disabilities. Dress is casual all weekend except for the Saturday evening class reception and dinner, which tends to be semi-formal—a jacket and tie for men and a dress, pant suit, or dress suit for women. If you plan to participate in sports, bring appropriate athletic attire. Please note that some dorm rooms do not have mirrors. What should I pack? In case of rain or cold weather, bring a slicker, sweater, and umbrella. Everyone registered to stay in a dorm is provided with linens, a blanket, a pillow, and a towel. You should pack necessary toiletries, hangers, and, if necessary, an iron and an alarm clock. A playpen or portable crib should be on young families’ lists. » Check Yahoo! Waterville weather forecast Are pets allowed on campus? We’re sorry, but no pets are allowed on campus. Please make alternate arrangements. Will the bookstore be open? The Colby Seaverns bookstore will be open and will feature various items on sale. Store hours will be available in the final weekend schedule. Will I be able to use Colby’s athletic facilities? Yes. Our facilities are available for alumni and their guests. Swim in the pool, play tennis at the Alfond-Wales Tennis Courts, walk or jog on the track at Harold Alfond Stadium, hit the squash courts (bring your own racket), or sweat it out with free weights, exercise bicycles, treadmills, or rowing machines in the Boulos Family Fitness Center. Facility times will be posted when you arrive on campus. May I get a refund if I need to cancel? Full refunds are available until May 25, 2012. After that, we cannot issue refunds because food and materials have been ordered and staffing levels determined. Thank you for understanding. |
