Reunion 2012

Colby welcomes back alumni from classes ending in 2 or 7 for Reunion 2012 and a weekend full of activities that will revive old memories and create new ones.

Information and Preliminary Schedule
Presidential Golf TournamentReunion Weekend is packed with activities. A tentative schedule is available online and is frequently updated as planning evolves. From receptions and dinners to lectures, golf, family activities, and facilities tours, we’ve got it all. Some activities are class-specific and others are open to the entire alumni community.

Registration and Pricing
Why not come for the whole weekend? There’s plenty to do. If your schedule doesn’t allow, we offer meal options to fit your needs. Registration material will be mailed in March 2012, and online registration will also be available at that time.

Housing and Class Headquarters
Each class has its own headquarters and stays in the same dorm(s). To get the complete Colby experience, we encourage you to stay on campus. Dorm rooms have one or two single beds and shared bathrooms. Standard linens are supplied. Plan ahead to room with friends, which you should note on your registration form.

Information on area motels is available online.

Check in
Schair-Swenson-Watson Alumni CenterYour first stop is the registration area in the Schair-Swenson-Watson Alumni Center. Alumni may check in beginning May 31 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Official on-campus events May 31, however, are only for the Class of 1962 (50th reunion); other classes may hold pre-reunion events off campus. The registration area is open Friday, 8 a.m.–11 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.–9 p.m.

Class Officers
Find out who your class officers are and which classmates are planning your reunion by selecting your class year from the menu at the upper left. Feel free to offer your suggestions for reunion events by contacting Alumni Relations.

Eating Well
Lobster Bake and BarbecueFind out why Colby’s dining was ranked ninth by the Princeton Review by partaking in on-campus meals. Eat well from Friday morning through Sunday brunch by indicating on your registration form which meals you plan to attend. Your Saturday night class dinner takes place in a private setting with just your class—it’s the highlight of the weekend.

Quick meals and snacks are also available in the Joseph Family Spa and the Marchese Blue Light Pub, both in Cotter Union. Hours will be posted in the final program. Information about area restaurants is available at the registration desk.

Get Moving
Colby’s athletic facilities are available to alumni and their guests. Tennis, swimming, walking or jogging, squash (bring your own racket), and the fitness center are options for fitness during the weekend. Don’t forget about the arboretum. The Quarry Road Recreation Area, just down the hill, offers easy walking and mountain-biking trails as well as access to Messalonskee Stream for canoeing or kayaking. Of course, Maine’s gorgeous mountains, beaches, and hiking trails are a short drive away.

Family Activities and Childcare
Kids ProgramBring the kids! Children and family activities are scheduled throughout the weekend. Free drop-in childcare is available Friday afternoon for parents attending faculty lectures in the Diamond Building. On Friday evening, bring the family to the reunion carnival in Pulver Pavilion.

More family fun continues Saturday afternoon with activities on Dana Lawn that are open to everyone. Supervised childcare is available Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight, but preregistration is required. For $30 your child—babies to age 12—will be fed, entertained, and closely watched. See children’s program for more information.

Teenagers and high schoolers are welcome to join all reunion events. If your teen is interested in an interview with the Admissions Office, a limited number of appointments is available Thursday and Friday. Contact Admissions at admissions@colby.edu or at 207-859-4800 to schedule an interview. Campus tours and information sessions are available Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
