 A new agreement with Columbia University gives Colby students another opportunity to earn a dual degree in engineering. Colby has offered a similar program with Dartmouth for many years, but the Columbia program offers 12 specialized degrees such as electrical or biomedical engineering. Students apply during their senior year and spend two years at Columbia after graduation from Colby. More »
 Mandy Ferguson ’12 set a pool record in the 1,650 freestyle, and the women's swimming and diving team won every event in a 174-32 victory over Norwich University Jan. 8. Clocking 17 minutes, 55.28 seconds, Ferguson broke the record of Mindy Williams ’03, who is now the swim coach at Simmons College. The men were also victorious against Norwich.

Craig Bunker ’11 was recently selected in the 14th round of the supplemental draft by the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse. Bunker was the first Colby men's lacrosse player in program history to earn three All-America honors and also is the only Mule ever named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-America first team. G. Calvin Mackenzie (government) was in Vietnam 40 years ago as a member of the U.S. Army. Now he's going back. Mackenzie was awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture at the Vietnamese Academy of Social Sciences in Hanoi this spring and to assist major Vietnamese universities in developing American studies programs.  Gibson Professor of History Elizabeth Leonard has written a biography of Joseph Holt, Lincoln's judge advocate general and a key but overlooked player of the Civil War period.  Waterville has been selected to receive a Maine Arts Commission grant of $50,000 for community revitalization in a partnership between municipalities and the cultural sector. The grant will be used in part to fund collaborative projects with the Colby College Museum of Art. "Waterville is poised to become a destination for arts and creative opportunities in Maine," said Museum Director Sharon Corwin.
