Since its debut, The Maribor Uprisings has been around the world and back, acquiring accolades at every turn.
Maple Razsa and Milton Guillén have forged a force to be reckoned with. Truly the first of its kind, The Maribor Uprisings asks audiences to collectively decide how to proceed through an uprising in Maribor, Slovenia. Audiences are challenged to bring their background experience, think critically about political engagement, and question their stances on violent and nonviolent protest.
With over 20 showings, The Maribor Uprisings has made a mighty splash. From campuses to community events to festivals, every showing is different.
The latest award comes from the Society for Visual Anthropology, a section of the American Anthropological Association. Deemed Best Feature Film of 2017, the Maribor Uprisings screened at the SVA’s annual film festival in late November.
