In spring 2015, Professor Véronique Plesch is offering a new course on the 20th-century artistic movement known as Surrealism. Cross-listed with the French Department, the course tracks Surrealism from post-World War I Paris to its influence on European and American arts and contemporary popular culture. Students will study the figures and forces–including Sigmund Freud and Dada–that were critical to the formation of the international avant-garde movement.
