WATERVILLE, Maine — Colby College sophomore forward
Marissa Simmons (Milton Academy/Chestnut Hill, Mass.) got a little help from
her forward line friends on both goals to help the Mules open the season with a
victory, and Monday she was honored as the New England Small College Athletic
Conference Women's Hockey Co-Player of the Week.
Simmons had the tying goal in the second period and added the
game-winning score in the third as the Mules took a 2-1 victory over New
England College on Saturday at Alfond Rink. Stephanie Scarpato and Liz Osgood,
Simmons' teammates on the forward line, had assists on both goals. Simmons tied
the game on the power play in the second period less than two minutes after NEC
had taken a 1-0 lead.
Simmons has six goals and five assists in her young career
with the Mules.
Colby will play at home to University of Southern Maine on
Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
