WATERVILLE, Maine — Colby College sophomore goaltender Brianne Wheeler (Brussels, Ontario) was named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference All-League Second Team on Friday.

The league coaches voted on the all-conference teams and recognized Wheeler’s talent, despite playing on a 6-17-2 team this season. Goal scoring problems hurt the Mules in a number of games this season.

Wheeler finished second in the league in total saves (669) and was one of just two goalies to have more than 600 saves this season. She also was sixth in the conference in save percentage (.918). Wheeler played 86 percent of the minutes this season, had two shutouts, and a 2.76 goals against average.

Wheeler has 1,265 saves in two years with the Mules. She has 45 career starts, five shutouts, a .923 save percentage and a 2.49 goals against average.
