WATERVILLE, MAINE --

Senior quarterback Pat Conley (Morse HS, Deerfield Academy/Bath, Maine) threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to power the Colby College football team to a 29-7 victory over Hamilton College in front of a Family Homecoming Weekend crowd at Seaverns Field on Saturday.

Sophomore running back Aaron Stepka (Farmington/Farmington, Conn.) had another big day for Colby (2-3), rushing 29 times for 170 yards. He has rushed for 559 yards in the last three games and has 764 yards in five games this season. Stepka also rushed for his sixth touchdown of the season.

The Mules led 7-0 after a quarter when Conley hit Don Williams (Rockland District/Owls Head, Maine) on a 6-yard touchdown pass with four seconds left in the quarter. Stepka had the big play on the drive, a 20-yard run to the Hamilton 20.

ColbyÕs special teams set up the MulesÕ next touchdown when sophomore Patrick Harner (W. Greenwich/W. Greenwich, R.I.) recovered an on-side kick at the Colby 48-yard line by first-year kicker John Goss (St. JohnÕs-Shrewsbury/Shrewsbury, Mass.). The Mules then used a seven-play drive that ended when Conley hooked up with senior wide receiver Jason Cunnane (King Philip Regional/Wrentham, Mass.) on a 5-yard touchdown pass. Conley rushed for the two-point conversion and the Mules had a 15-0 lead.

Colby used an eight-play, 55-yard drive to go up 22-0 when Stepka scored his touchdown from 2 yards out with 7:20 left to halftime. Hamilton (0-5) got its only touchdown when first-year wide receiver William Carey (Chaminade/Rockville Centre, N.Y.) caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Holtslag (Whitesboro/Whitesboro, N.Y.) with 30 seconds to halftime.

The Mules sealed the game less than two minutes into the fourth quarter on ConleyÕs 7-yard touchdown run. The score was set up by a 34-yard kickoff return by sophomore Thomas Wilson (Lakeside School/Bellevue, Wash.) and a 36-yard run by Stepka.
