Amherst women's soccer tops Colby
AMHERST, Mass. -
Colby College's Christine O'Donnell (Salem/Salem, Mass.) got the Mules off to a quick start, but Amherst College scored the final three goals of the game for a 3-1 victory Saturday in New England Small College Athletic Conference women's soccer action.
O'Donnell, a senior forward, got her 39th career goal just 6:30 into the game for a 1-0 Colby (4-6, 1-5 NESCAC) lead. She now has 87 career points with 39 goals and nine assists.
Amherst (6-4, 4-2), the defending NESCAC champs and an NCAA title game finalist last year, tied the game just over three minutes later on a goal by Tracy Montigny. The Jeffs then went ahead for good at 14:12 when Adrienne Showler scored.
Elizabeth Riley (Thornton Academy/Saco, Maine) had six saves for Colby.
