Colby baseball drops two to Trinity

WATERVILLE, Maine --

Kurt Piantek (Wallingford, Conn.) homered in both games in helping Trinity College take 5-1 and 19-9 wins over Colby College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Sunday.

Eric Shattenkirk (New Rochelle, N.Y.) homered three times in the second game for the Bantams (11-5, 5-1). Piantek and Robert Dolliver (Norwich, Conn.) each had four runs scored. In the opener, Piantek went 1-for-1 with a homer, had two walks and scored two runs.

Brandon Royce (Augusta, Maine) homered in the first game for Colby (5-8-1, 0-4). In the nightcap, Dan Deacon (Rumford, R.I.) added two doubles and three runs scored and Matt Gibson (Courtland, Ohio) had two doubles and two runs. Jon Vacca (Quincy, Mass.) added one hit, three walks and three runs.

Colby plays host to St. Joseph's College on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
