Tufts baseball beats Mules in league game
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Evan Zupancic (Lake Oswego, Ore.) went 5-for-6 with two doubles and three runs scored from his leadoff spot to lead Tufts University to a 15-5 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference East baseball Friday at Coombs Field.
Tufts moved to 16-8 overall and 7-3 in the NESCAC East. The Mules fell to 7-12-1 and 1-7 in the conference. The two teams play a doubleheader at Colby starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Adam Kacamburas (North Reading, Mass.) went 3-for-3, John McBride (Billerica, Mass.) added three hits and three runs, and Jon Herbert (Davidsonsville, Md.) homered for Tufts.
Dave Martin (Arlington, Mass.) worked the first seven innings and allowed no earned runs for the Jumbos.
Eric Roy (Lisbon Falls, Maine) went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the Mules. Dan Deacon (Rumford, R.I.), Tyler Hales (Lexington, Mass.) and Jared Cushman (Augusta, Maine) all had two hits for Colby.
