Colby baseball fights hard against U. Maine
ORONO, Maine --
The Colby College baseball team gave the University of Maine-Orono some problems for the first four innings before the NCAA Division I-AA Black Bears pulled away for a 9-3 victory Tuesday night.
The Mules (7-15-1) led 1-0 after two innings and only trailed 2-1 heading into the fifth inning.
University of Maine (27-11) received home runs from Brett Ouellette and Simon Williams. Alain Picard went 3-for-3 for the winners.
Eric Roy had a hit and two RBI for Colby. Matt Gibson and Kevin Brunelle each had one hit and one run scored. Brandon Royce doubled and Jared Cushman had the other hit for Colby.
The Mules are back in action Wednesday at Thomas College at 3:30 p.m.
