Colby cross country teams in top five

WESTFIELD, Mass. --

The Colby College men's and women's cross country teams each finished in the top five of the team standings Saturday at the 7th Annual Westfield State James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park.

The Colby women finished fourth out of 26 teams, while the men earned fifth place in a 27-team field.

Karina Johnson (Tolland/Tolland, Conn.) finished in 13th place in 22 minutes, 57.20 seconds over 6,000 meters for the Colby women in a field of 272 finishers. Mary Phelps (Piedmont/Piedmont, Calif.) was 16th in 23:15.70, Anna Cristina Sisson (Oak Brook, Ill.) was just behind Phelps in 17th place in 23:18.70 and Jess Minty (Concord-Carlisle/Concord, Mass.) took 33rd in 23:49.10.

Nat Brown (Wellesley/Wellesley, Mass.) led the Colby men by taking 14th out of 305 runners in 25:59.30 over 8,000 meters. Eric Reinauer (Granby/North Granby, Conn.) was 24th in 26:32.20 and Justin Sukiennik (Taconic/Pittsfield, Mass.) took 27th in 26:38.60.
