Colby volleyball defeats USM
WATERVILLE, MAINE --
In her final home match, senior Laurel Burnham (Gilbraltar/Baileys Harbor, Wis.) had a team-high 23 assists as the Colby College volleyball team took a 3-0 victory over University of Southern Maine in non-conference play Wednesday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
The Mules (21-9) won 30-19, 30-17, 30-14. USM fell to 12-19 with the loss.
Junior setter Kimberly Prescott (Los Alamitos/Buena Park, Calif.) had 15 assists in the opening game and went over 1,000 assists for the season. Prescott, the single-season record holder for assists, has 1,014 assists this year.
Junior middle blocker Alyssa Henley (St. George's/Spokane, Wash.) had 10 kills for Colby. Junior Johanna Schroeder (Salmon/Salmon, Idaho) added eight kills, while Jennifer Radcliffe (South Eugene/Eugene, Ore.) and Abbey Stella (Westfield/Westfield, Mass.) had seven kills apiece.
Colby and USM will each play in the State of Maine Intercollegiate Championships at Southern Maine this Friday and Saturday. The Mules, the defending champs, are the top seed and will not play until Saturday.
