Bowdoin wins tight game over Colby
BRUNSWICK, Maine --
Despite holding two leads in the game, the Colby College men's hockey team gave up the final three goals of the game and fell 5-3 to Bowdoin College in front of a capacity crowd at Dayton Arena on Tuesday night.
Colby, ranked 14th in the country in Division III, fell to 3-1 with the loss. Bowdoin, the fifth-ranked team in the national poll, moved to 4-0.
The Mules had leads of 2-1 and 3-2, but Bowdoin fought back to tie the game at 3-3 after two periods. The Polar Bears then took the lead for good when Chris Pelletier scored with 8:31 remaining for a 4-3 lead. Bowdoin added an empty net goal with 21 seconds left.
Bowdoin goalie Mike Healey stopped 29 shots, while Colby goaltender J.D. Hadiaris had 24 saves.
The Polar Bears held the first lead of the game when Adam Dann scored 12:12 into the first period.
Colby took a 2-1 lead after the first period on two goals by Ross MacMillan. He scored the first just 1:01 after Dann's goal off assists from Joel Morash and Brian Chisholm. MacMillan got the other goal with 2:42 left in the period from an assist from Jared Gordon.
The Polar Bears tied the game at 2-2 quickly in the second period when Peter Nasveschuck tallied just 1:18 into the period off an assist from Dann.
The Mules went ahead again when Chisholm found the back of the net off a pass from senior captain Brock Barton at the 7:57 mark of the second period. Bowdoin made it a 3-3 game after two periods when Ryan Seymour's hard shot tied the game at 14:38.
