Colby field hockey wins third straight
WINDHAM, MAINE --
Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) scored two goals and Shelley Hughes (Princeton/Princeton, N.J.) had two assists as the Colby College field hockey team took a 4-0 victory over St. Joseph's College in non-conference play Tuesday.
The Mules (8-4) have won three straight games heading into Saturday's home game at 11 a.m. with 15th-ranked Bowdoin College.
Senior goaltender Carrie Morin (Cony/Augusta, Maine) stopped three shots for her fifth shutout of the season. She dropped her goals-against average down to 0.89.
Bonner got the only goal of the first half off an assist from senior captain Lyndsay Peters (Freeport/Freeport, Maine). Bonner then made it 2-0 in the second half from a pass off the stick of Hughes.
Junior forward Brittney Lazar (Notre Dame Academy/Holden, Mass.) got Colby's third goal off Hughes' second assist. Junior forward Kim Betz (Greenwich Academy/Greenwich, Conn.) got her first collegiate goal from junior Sari Gilbert (Marblehead/Marblehead, Mass.) to close out the scoring.
