Colby volleyball earns easy victory
WATERVILLE, MAINE --
With all the starters playing just two games, the Colby College volleyball team opened the season with an easy victory over St. Joseph's (Maine) College on Tuesday night.
The Mules won in three games 30-13, 30-20, 30-12.
Junior setter Kimberly Prescott (Los Alamitos/Buena Park, Calif.) led Colby with 21 assists and four service aces. First-year outside hitter Cait Cleaver (Unionville/Kennett Square, Pa.) had eight kills and two aces, while junior captain Alyssa Henley (St. George's/Spokane, Wash.) had six kills and two blocks.
Colby (1-0) also received five kills from junior Johanna Schroeder (Salmon/Salmon, Idaho) and four kills and six digs from first-year middle blocker Megan Devlin (Branford/Branford, Conn.).
The Mules will entertain Bowdoin, Gordon, St. Joseph's, Suffolk, University of Maine-Machias and Unity this Friday and Saturday in the Colby Invitational at Wadsworth Gymnasium. Colby will play against Suffolk in its opening game of the tourney on Friday at 8 p.m.
