Colby men's hockey easily beats UMass-Boston

WATERVILLE, Maine --

Sophomore forward Nick Bayley (Cambridge Winterhawks/Cambridge, Ont.) had two goals and three assists as the Colby College men's hockey team finished up a successful weekend with an 8-0 romp of University of Massachusetts-Boston on Saturday at Alfond Arena.

Colby improved to 8-1 and won its two home games over the weekend by a combined 12-1 score. The Mules, ranked 12th in the country, took a 4-1 win against Babson on Friday night.

Nick Meintel (North Yarmouth/Yarmouth, Maine) added one goal and three assists for the Mules. Kevin Lyons (Walpole Stars/Canton, Mass.) had one goal and two assists, while Sean O'Grady (London Nationals/London, Ont.) had one goal and one assist.

The Mules led 3-0 after the first period, but didn't score their first goal until 12:17 into play.

Eric Molander (Milton Academy/Yarmouth, Maine) had two assists, while Patrick Walsh (Choate Rosemary Hall/Easton, Conn.), Brian Chisholm (St. Andrew's/King, Ont.) and Jay Goebel (Hotchkiss School/New Canaan, Conn.) had one goal apiece.

Chris Ries (Taft School/Pittsburgh, Pa.) had 10 saves for his first shutout of the season.

Colby will play host to Middlebury this Friday at 7 p.m.
