Colby men's basketball holds off Conn College
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Kevin Crosman (Morse/Bath, Maine) had 19 points and 12 rebounds to help the Colby College men's basketball team hang on for a 59-57 victory over Connecticut College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
The Mules led 47-31 with 13:13 left in the game, but Connecticut College (5-10, 0-4 NESCAC) battled back and could have taken the lead in the final minute. The Camels missed on a 3-point shot that would have given them a 60-59 lead with seven seconds left.
Crosman was fouled after getting the rebound, but missed his one-and-one attempt at the foul line. However, the Camels were unable to get a final shot off before the buzzer.
Michael Westbrooks (Berkshire School/Dublin, Ireland) had 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists for Colby (5-10, 1-3). Junior captain Nick Loukes (Bangor/Glenburn, Maine) added 10 points, four steals and three assists. Jared Cushman (Cony/Augusta, Maine) had seven points, four assists and four rebounds.
Kevin Herrington (Winchendon Prep/Everett, Mass.) had 16 points and six rebounds for Conn College. Joe Tremblay (Brewster Academy/Lebanon, Conn.) added 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
The Camels shot 43 percent from 3-point range in the first half as the Mules took a 30-28 lead at the break. Conn College, though, shot just 22 percent from behind the arc in the second half and finished the game at 11-for-34.
Colby plays a non-conference game at Lasell College this Tuesday at 6 p.m.
