Colby men's hockey slams Southern Maine

WATERVILLE, Maine --

In the final regular season home game for the seniors, Colby College got a shutout from senior goalie J.D. Hadiaris (Saco, Maine) and a goal and two assists from senior defender Sean O'Grady (London, Ontario) in an 8-0 victory over University of Southern Maine on Saturday in men's hockey at Alfond Arena.

The Mules improved to 16-4-1 overall, while Southern Maine fell to 5-16-1. Colby outscored the Huskies by an 18-0 margin in two games this year.

Nick Bayley (Cambridge, Ontario) had two goals and two assists for Colby, which led 2-0 after a period and 5-0 after two periods. Cory Ernst (Bridgewater, N.S.) had one goal and two assists.

Kevin Lyons (Canton, Mass.) and Patrick Walsh (Easton, Conn.) each had one goal and one assist for the winners. Ross MacMillan (Charlottetown, PEI) and Nate Stanglein (Northampton, Pa.) both had one goal. Nick Meintel (Yarmouth, Maine) and Brian Chisholm (King, Ontario) each had two assists.

Hadiaris needed to make just 15 saves for his fourth shutout of the season. USM goalie J.R. Wappel (Flemington, N.J.) had 41 stops.

Colby plays at Hamilton College this Friday at 7 p.m.
