No. 2 Norwich tops No. 11 Colby in men's hockey
NORTHFIELD, Vt. --
The second-ranked Norwich University men's hockey team scored four goals in the second period to pull away for a 6-2 victory over No. 11 Colby College on Saturday at Kreitzberg Arena.
Norwich won its 20th straight game at home in improving to 19-1 overall. The Cadets scored 15 goals in wins over Colby and Bowdoin this weekend. The Mules fell to 13-4-1 with the loss heading into Tuesday's home game with Bowdoin at 7 p.m.
Colby held a 2-1 lead after the first period after Norwich had taken an early 1-0 lead just 2:07 into the contest. The Mules tied it at 1-1 when Judd Moldaver scored off assists from Jake Bayley and Jared Gordon. Colby then went up 2-1 when Brian Chisholm scored with 54 seconds left to intermission off assists from Nate Stanglein and Cory Ernst.
The Cadets scored two goals in the opening 2:46 of the second period to go ahead for good.
Colby goalie Chris Ries made 27 saves, while Norwich's Randy Hevey stopped 32 shots.
