Middlebury men's lacrosse tops Mules
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --
Mike Saraceni had one goal and four assists to pace top-ranked Middlebury College to a 9-5 victory over 19th-ranked Colby College in men's lacrosse action Saturday.
The game was tied 2-2 after the first quarter and defending national champion Middlebury (2-0) only led 4-2 at halftime. The Mules went the second and third quarters without a goal as the Panthers moved ahead 8-2 after three quarters.
Joshua Cleaver (Unionville/Kennett Square, Pa.) had three goals to lead Colby (1-1). Trenholm Boggs (Potomac/Arlington, Va.) added the other two goals, while Barron Butler (Middlesex/Marblehead, Mass.) and Matt Roland (Somers/Somers, Conn.) each had one assist. Cleaver and Boggs both have six goals in two games.
Colby goaltender Matthew LaPaglia (Delbarton/Upper Montclair, N.J.) finished with 25 saves to keep his team in the game. Middlebury had a 50-18 advantage in shots.
The Mules next play against Williams College in Florida on Wednesday, March 26, at 6 p.m.
