Colby men's lacrosse rips Southern Maine, 17-7
WATERVILLE, Maine --
The Colby College men's lacrosse team scored nine goals in the second quarter on the way to a 17-7 victory over University of Southern Maine in a non-conference game Thursday.
Barron Butler (Middlesex/Marblehead, Mass.) had one goal and seven assists for the Mules (3-6). Joshua Cleaver (Unionville/Kennett Square, Pa.) and Ryan Glennon (Phillips Exeter/Exeter, N.H.) both had three goals and one assist.
Southern Maine (2-5) took a 2-1 lead after the first quarter and held the Mules without a goal for the first 14:05 of the period.
Colby, though, scored four goals in the first seven minutes of the second quarter on the way to piling up nine scores in the period.
Andrew O'Connell-Shevenell (Northfield, Portland, Maine) added three goals for Colby. Pete Lagos (Bow/Bow, N.H.) chipped in with a goal and two assists, while Conor Cooper (Phillips Academy-Andover/Reading, Mass.) had two goals.
Jonathan Gagne (Berwick Academy/Eliot, Maine) paced the Huskies with three goals and two assists. Matt Butler (Barnstable/Barnstable, Mass.) had two goals.
Colby will play at Connecticut College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
