Colby men's lacrosse falls to Bates, 4-2
LEWISTON, Maine --
Mark Dobbyn stopped 18 shots and Bates College scored all of its goals in the middle quarters in taking a 4-2 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference men's lacrosse Wednesday.
After a scoreless opening quarter, Bates (5-6, 1-4 NESCAC) scored the opening two goals in the first five minutes of the second quarter. Colby (1-4, 0-4) got on the scoreboard with just 2:27 to halftime when Ryan Glennon (Exeter, N.H.) tallied off a pass from Andrew O'Connell-Shevenell (Portland, Maine).
The Bobcats scored the only two goals of the third quarter to take a 4-1 lead into the final 15 minutes. Joshua Cleaver (Kennett Square, Pa.) scored with 7:16 remaining for Colby's final goal.
The Mules, who play at Trinity at 1 p.m. Saturday, received 15 saves from goalie Matthew LaPaglia (Upper Montclair, N.J.).
