Big second half leads Dominican past Colby

SEASIDE, Calif. --

The Colby College men's basketball team had the lead at halftime, but Dominican University scored 45 points in the second half to pull away for a 65-44 victory at the California State-Monterey Bay Classic on Friday night.

Marcus Williams led Dominican with 15 points and Bryan Rooney was 8-for-8 from the foul line and had 10 points.

Sophomore guard Patrick McGowan (No. Attleboro/Attleboro, Mass.) led Colby (1-5) with 15 points. Senior forward Kevin Crosman (Morse/Bath, Maine) added 10 rebounds and three blocked shots for the Mules.

Colby shot 42 percent from the field and held Dominican to 26 percent shooting in opening up a 24-20 lead at halftime. The Mules, though, shot just 24 percent in the second half.

Colby will play host to Southern Maine this Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
