Bowdoin men's soccer defeats Mules
WATERVILLE, MAINE --
Bowdoin College used two penalty kicks in the first 16 minutes of the second half to pull away for a 4-0 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference men's soccer Saturday.
The Polar Bears clinched the top seed in the NESCAC Tournament with the victory and coupled with Amherst's 3-0 win against Williams College. Bowdoin (10-2-1) is 7-1 in the league and Williams is 6-2 with one game left apiece. However, the Polar Bears already have the tiebreaker advantage with a win over Williams earlier this season.
Bowdoin led 1-0 at halftime after Ethan Roth (Morris Catholic/West Orange, N.J.) scored off an assist from Kevin Folan (Chaminade/Massapequa Park, N.Y.) 24:01 into the first half.
Bobby Desilets (Bishop Hendrickson/Mapleville, R.I.) and Andrew Russo (Weymouth/Weymouth, Mass.) converted penalty kicks in the first 16 minutes of the second half for a 3-0 lead. Bucky Jencks (Punahou/Honolulu, Hawaii) had Bowdoin's other goal.
