Garcia wins two events at NE D3 Meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --

Xavier Garcia (Stoneham, Mass.) won the 400-meter dash and captured the triple jump for Colby College at the New England Division III Meet at MIT on Friday and Saturday.

Garcia won the 400 in 50.05 and took the triple jump with a leap of 45-11.50. He also took third place in the long jump at 22-6. His performances helped Colby place seventh in the 19-team meet with 55 points.

Ryan Hollett (Bedford, Nova Scotia) placed third in the 55 dash (6.57) and was fourth in the 200 dash (23.23, 23.13 prelim).

Lee Rankin (Riverside, R.I.) took third in the weight throw with a toss of 54-6.25. Steve Creighton was sixth in the 800 meters (1:58.41), Rich Downing took seventh in the 1,500 meters (4:00.22) and Matt Riportella was seventh in the triple jump (42-6.25).
