Hughes breaks 20 wins for Colby in victory
HILTON HEAD, S.C. --
Sara Hughes (Burlington/South Burlington, Vt.) improved her season record to 21-11 with victories at first singles and first doubles for the Colby College women's tennis team in a 7-2 win against Carleton College on Wednesday.
Hughes, who joined forces with Britt Palmedo (Deerfield/Ketchum, Idaho), is 13-5 in doubles and 8-6 in singles. She helped Colby improve to 6-5 overall and 3-1 this spring.
Caren Harris (Germantown/Fairview Village, Pa.), Christina Pluta (Mercer/Mercer Island, Wash.), Paige Hanzlik (Hinsdale/Oak Brook, Ill.) and Ginny Raho (Lincoln School/Providence, R.I.) also won singles matches for the Mules.
Colby will play Middlebury College at 8 a.m. Thursday.
