Colby softball wins home opener over Thomas
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Toni-Lynn Robbins (Appleton, Maine) pitched a complete game and Wendy Bonner (Lexington, Mass.) went 3-for-3 to lead the Colby College softball team to an 8-0 home opener win over Thomas College on Thursday.
Robbins struck out seven and walked two while allowing just three Thomas hits.
Bonner had two doubles, a run scored and four RBI from the third spot in the lineup. Kate Hurd (Cumberland, Maine) added two runs, a hit and an RBI for Colby (4-6). Annette Caswell (Bucksport, Maine) was 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
Bonner scored the first run of the game in the first inning on an RBI single by Lauren Olmsted (Lexington, Mass.). Bonner then had a bases clearing double in the second inning to give the Mules a 4-0 lead. Shannon Emerson (West Friendship, Md.), who had one of the runs, walked twice and scored twice.
Colby will play two games against Tufts University at Bates College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
