Colby softball downs Maine-Farmington, 4-1
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Annette Caswell (Bucksport/Bucksport, Maine) earned the victory and had an RBI single as the Colby College softball team took a 4-1 victory over University of Maine-Farmington at Crafts Field on Friday.
The Mules (7-8) scored all four of their runs by batting around in the third inning. Lauren Olmsted (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.), who earned the save by pitching the final two innings, Michaelyn Bortolotti (Hanover/Hanover, Mass.) and Caswell all had RBI singles in the inning. Olmsted and Bortolotti each had two hits.
Emily Allen (Loomis Chaffee/Suffield, Conn.) singled, stole second and scored to start the third inning off for the Mules. Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.), who went 2-for-3, Kate Hurd (Greely/Cumberland, Maine) and Olmsted also had runs.
Richelle Dube (Lewiston, Maine) had a hit and two stolen bases for UMF (4-8).
Colby will play host to St. Joseph's in a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon.
