Trinity beats Colby men at the buzzer
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Corey Days (Boys Latin/Baltimore, Md.) followed up a missed shot and scored at the buzzer to lead the Trinity College men's basketball team to a 71-69 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
After Colby (4-9, 0-2 NESCAC) missed two free throws with 19 seconds left, Trinity (10-4, 2-0) missed two shots before Days hit his follow-up shot just as the buzzer sounded. Days finished with 11 of his 15 points after halftime and had eight rebounds.
John Halas (HackleyWhite Plains, N.Y.) had 10 of his team-high 18 points in the second half to help the Bantams turn a 35-29 halftime deficit into a victory. Tyler Rhoten (Ridgewood/Ridgewood, N.J.) had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners.
Patrick McGowan (North Attleboro/North Attleboro, Mass.) had 18 points and six rebounds for the Mules. Kevin Crosman (Morse/Bath, Maine) finished with 13 points, Jared Cushman (Cony/Augusta, Maine) had 10 points and four assists, and Michael Westbrooks (Berkshire School/Dublin, Ireland) had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Colby will next play against Wesleyan in another league game Friday at home at 7 p.m.
