Colby women's basketball wins 10th game
HARTFORD, Conn. --
Senior point guard Bianca Belcher (Lewiston/Lewiston, Maine) had 19 points and nine assists to lead the Colby College women's basketball team to an 85-74 victory over Trinity College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
The Mules improved to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the NESCAC, while Trinity falls to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Senior center Sarah Walsh (Seton Keough/Catonsville, Md.) had 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals for Colby. Walsh, who ranks fourth on Colby's all-time scoring list, went over 1,200 points and currently is at 1,212 points and 877 rebounds.
Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) had 18 points and six rebounds for the Mules. Sarah Kelly (Portsmouth/Portsmouth, N.H.) had 11 points, Drea DeAngelo (Sycamore/Cincinnati, Ohio) had seven points and six assists, and Christine O'Donnell (Salem/Salem, Mass.) had six points and eight rebounds.
The Mules led 40-32 at the break and shot 53 percent from the field for the game. Colby had 25 assists on its 34 made shots and had a 46-33 advantage on the boards.
Colby continues to play on the road this Friday against a good Wesleyan squad at 7:30 p.m.
