Colby men's soccer blanks UMF
WATERVILLE, MAINE --
The Colby College men's soccer team continued to dominate non-conference opponents with a 2-0 victory Thursday over University of Maine at Farmington.
The Mules (5-4) are 4-0 this year in non-league games and have outscored the opponent by a 15-1 margin. UMF fell to 5-4 with the loss.
Senior forward Zach Shull (Framingham/Framingham, Mass.) scored unassisted with just 41 seconds left to halftime to give Colby a 1-0 lead at the break.
The Mules added an insurance goal when senior forward Jamie Yurek (Alexander Dawson/Boulder, Colo) scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder Ryan Boccuzzi (E.O. Smith/Storrs, Conn.) with about 12 minutes remaining. Yurek leads Colby in scoring with four goals and two assists for 10 points and Boccuzzi is first on the team in assists with four.
Senior goalkeeper Andrew Danzinger (Mercerburg Academy/Frederick, Md.) made eight saves for the shutout. UMF goalkeeper Ryan Hersey (Farmington, Maine) stopped five shots.
Colby plays Saturday at 11 a.m. against Amherst in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game.
