Colby volleyball has 3-1 weekend
WATERVILLE, MAINE --
The Colby College volleyball team finished with a 3-1 record after Saturday's play at the Colby Invitational at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
The Mules (4-1) took wins over Maine-Machias (3-0 30-17, 30-15, 30-18) and Unity (3-0 30-11, 30-13, 30-14). Colby, which had beaten Suffolk on Friday night, fell to Gordon (3-0 30-26, 30-28, 30-21).
Junior setter Kimberly Prescott (Los Alamitos/Buena Park, Calif.) set a school record with 10 service aces in a three-game match. Prescott, who only played in two of the games against Unity, had eight service aces on her first nine attempts and also had 24 assists.
First-year outside hitter Megan Devlin (Branford/Branford, Conn.) had 10 kills and seven digs in the Unity match. Senior captain Laurel Burnham (Gilbraltar/Baileys Harbor, Wis.) added seven kills, while Kaitlin Adams (Athol/Athol, Mass.) and Johanna Schroeder (Salmon/Salmon, Idaho) both had five kills.
In the match with Maine-Machias, Devlin finished with nine kills and eight digs. Prescott had 22 assists and six digs, Schroeder had five kills and three aces, and Jennifer Radcliffe had six digs.
Junior captain Alyssa Henley (St. George's/Spokane, Wash.) and Cait Cleaver (Unionville/Kennett Square, Pa.) both had nine kills against Gordon. Abbey Stella (Westfield/Westfield, Mass.) had eight kills and Prescott added 34 assists.
