Walsh lifts Colby past UMF
FARMINGTON, Maine --
Sarah Walsh (Catonsville, Md.) hit a 10-foot jumper at the buzzer to help the Colby College women's basketball team escape with a 57-56 non-conference victory over University of Maine-Farmington on Tuesday night.
Walsh finished with 13 points, 18 rebounds and three steals. She now has 948 career rebounds and needs nine more to become the all-time rebounding leader at Colby (Kaye Cross had 956 rebounds).
Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) added seven points and 10 rebounds for the Mules (15-4). Drea DeAngelo (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Christine O'Donnell (Salem, Mass.) both had nine points, while Bianca Belcher (Lewiston, Maine) had six points, six rebounds and five assists. Caitlin Bourque (Townsend, Mass.) had seven points off the bench for Colby.
Colby has won five straight games heading into Friday's NESCAC home game with Bates College at 7 p.m.
