Bowdoin women's basketball tops Colby

BRUNSWICK, Maine --

Bowdoin College, which is ranked seventh in the D3hoops.com national poll, had five players in double figures in taking a 76-66 victory over Colby College on Tuesday night.

Kristi Royer had 13 points and nine rebounds for Bowdoin (10-1). Courtney Trotta and Lora Trenkle each had 11 points and four assists for the Polar Bears.

Colby point guard Bianca Belcher (Lewiston/Lewiston, Maine) had 19 points and four assists. Senior center Sarah Walsh (Seton Keough/Catonsville, Md.) finished with 17 points and moved into a tie for fourth place on the Colby all-time scoring list with Patricia Valavanis '80 at 1,165 points. Drea DeAngelo (Sycamore/Cincinnati, Ohio) had 13 points, while Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) had six points and a team-best nine rebounds.

The Mules led 38-37 at halftime after shooting 56 percent from the field. Colby cooled down in the second half with 27 percent shooting as Bowdoin moved ahead.

The Mules play Friday at Amherst at 7 p.m.
