Colby women's soccer easily beats Husson
BANGOR, MAINE --
Senior forward Lauren Gremelspacher (Granby, Conn.) scored three goals as the Colby College women's soccer team began the season with an easy 10-0 win against Husson College on Sunday.
Gremelspacher scored five minutes into the game for the Mules' first goal. Colby added six more goals in the next 30 minutes to lead 7-0 after just 35 minutes.
Senior forward Christine O'Donnell (Salem, Mass.), the all-time goal-scoring leader at Colby, had two goals Sunday and has 33 goals for her career.
Sophomore midfielder Amanda Walsh (Salem, Mass.) had two goals and two assists for Colby. First-year midfielder Kaitlin Herlihy (Simsbury, Conn.) and first-year forward Kristin Schmidt (Littleton, Mass.) each had their first collegiate goals. Senior defender Steph Hicks (Framingham, Mass.) had one goal.
Colby goalkeeper Elizabeth Riley (Saco, Maine) had seven saves for the shutout.
The Mules open New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play on Saturday, September 14, at 11 a.m. at Bates College.
