Mules hold off Williams in men's hockey

WATERVILLE, Maine --

The 12th-ranked Colby College men's hockey team opened up a three-goal lead and then held on for a 5-4 victory over Williams College at Alfond Arena on Saturday.

Nick Bayley (Cambridge Winterhawks/Cambridge, Ont.) got the eventual game-winning goal 5:20 into the third period to give Colby a 5-2 lead. The Ephs, though, fought back with goals by Jake Clapton (Nobles/Canton, Mass.) at 6:36 and 11:30 to cut the margin to one goal.

Jake Bayley (Waterloo Siskins/Cambridge, Ont.), Sean O'Grady (London Nationals/London, Ont.) and Brian Chisholm (St. Andrew's College/King, Ont.) all had one goal and one assist for Colby (9-2). Senior captain Brock Barton (Nepean Red Raiders/McLeods, NB) and Patrick Walsh (Choate Rosemary Hall/Easton, Conn.) both had two assists. Kevin Lyons (Walpole Stars/Canton, Mass.) also tallied for the Mules.

Chris Ries (Taft School/Pittsburgh, Pa.) made 17 saves for Colby, which hosts eighth-ranked Plattsburgh on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
