No. 17 Colby women's lacrosse rips U. New England
BIDDEFORD, Maine --
The 17th-ranked Colby College women's lacrosse team scored 18 goals in the first half on the way to a 25-1 victory over University of New England in a non-conference game Thursday.
Sophomore attacker Julia Benedict (Dover, Mass.) and first-year attacker Elizabeth Ghilardi (Norwell, Mass.) both had four goals for the Mules (1-1). Sophomore midfielder Emma Miller (Wellesley, Mass.) and first-year midfielder Katie Roberts (Chatham, N.J.) each had three goals.
Colby scored nine goals in the first 9:52 of the contest and Ghilardi had all of her goals in the opening half.
Ally King (Hartford, Conn.), Priscilla Catir (Gray, Maine) and Lauren Gremelspacher (Granby, Conn.) all scored twice for the Mules.
Colby played the first of six road games in the next 11 days. The Mules next play in Florida at the Walt Disney Complex in Orlando against Oswego State at 11 a.m. Monday.
