No. 2 Amherst gets past No. 14 Colby in women's lacrosse
AMHERST, Mass. --
Amherst junior midfielder Liz Martin had six goals and senior attacker Abby Ouimet finished with three goals and seven assists as the second-ranked Lord Jeffs took a 17-6 NESCAC victory over 14th-ranked Colby College on Saturday.
Amherst (3-0, 1-0 NESCAC) only led 7-6 at halftime after jumping out to a 4-0 lead. Colby (3-3, 0-2) tied the game at 7-7 before Amherst went ahead for good.
Ally King (West Hartford, Conn.) had three goals and four assists for Colby. Elizabeth Ghilardi (Norwell, Mass.), Kate Wheeler (Baltimore, Md.) and Amanda Epstein (Philadelphia, Pa.) all had two goals for the Mules. Cara Dionisi (Sudbury, Mass.) had one goal and one assist, while Sarah Burlingham (Radnor, Pa.) and Lauren Gremelspacher (Granby, Conn.) each had one goal.
Anna Schierberl Scherr (Portsmouth, N.H.) stopped 17 shots for Colby.
