Colby women's tennis sweeps USM
GORHAM, MAINE --
The Colby College women's tennis team won for the second straight time by a 9-0 score with Tuesday's victory over University of Southern Maine.
The Mules (3-2), who swept Connecticut College on Sunday, will play a big home match Wednesday at 4 p.m. with Bowdoin College.
All six of Colby's singles players won in straight sets --- with first singles player Sara Hughes (Burlington/South Burlington, Vt.) and third singles player Christina Pluta (Mercer/Mercer Island, Wash.) losing just one game.
Caren Harris (Germantown/Fairview Village, Pa.), Paige Hanzlik (Hinsdale/Oak Brook, Ill.), Ginny Raho (Lincoln School/Providence, R.I.) and Jenny Grace (Brewster/Darien, Conn.) also won singles matches.
Harris and Pluta took an easy 8-0 win at second doubles for the Mules. Hughes and Britt Palmedo (Deerfield/Ketchum, Idaho) won at first doubles and Hanzlik and Raho won an 8-5 match at the third doubles spot.
