Basketball great Rick Fusco '83 to be honored
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Colby College men's basketball great Rick Fusco '83 will have his uniform retired before Saturday's home game between the Mules and Tufts University at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
Fusco and his family will be in attendance for the 3 p.m. ceremony just before the Mules and Jumbos play a key New England Small College Athletic Conference game.
Fusco holds the Colby, State of Maine and New England Division III records for career assists at 817 and his 260 assists in the 1981-82 season is also a record.
Fusco was the Colby Most Valuable Player of the 1981-82 and the 1982-83 teams. He helped the Mules to three Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships and Colby won 57 games in his career with the team.
Fusco's No. 4 jersey will be retired and will be hung in the Colby athletic awards room right near the basketball court and main lobby of the Alfond Athletic Center. He wore No. 4 and No. 22 during his playing days at Colby.
Fusco currently lives in Groton, Mass., with his wife Kim '85 and daughters Allison and Jennifer. Fusco's hometown is Revere, Mass.
