Bayley earns District I academic honors again
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Colby College men's hockey player Nick Bayley (Cambridge, Ontario) was named to the 2004 Academic District I College Men's At-Large First Team Wednesday.
Bayley was honored as a District I selection for the second straight year. He earned National Academic All-America honors last year and is now eligible for national honors again after making the District first team. Bayley was the only sophomore last year to earn At-Large National Academic All-America First Team honors.
Bayley, who will be a senior this fall, majors in biology and minors in chemistry at Colby. He was one of three New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) student-athletes to make the first and second teams.
Bayley had the highest grade-point average of any Colby student-athlete, sophomore standing or higher, after the fall semester. He has been a NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team selection the last two years. Bayley was honored with a Phi Beta Kappa Undergraduate Scholastic Achievement Award, given to two members of the Colby Class of 2005 for outstanding academic achievement.
Heading into his senior year, Bayley has 45 goals and 68 assists for 113 career points. He led the Mules in scoring the past two years and earned NESCAC All-Conference honors both seasons. Bayley is the 14th men's hockey player in school history to score 100 points or more.
The squad is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District I is made up of Division III colleges in New York and New England. At-Large sports are golf, rifle, volleyball, gymnastics, skiing, water polo, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, wrestling, lacrosse and tennis.
