Bates baseball takes two from Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine -

Bates College hit eight home runs in two games to take 12-1 and 9-7 victories over Colby College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday.

Charlie Engasser (Chanhassen, Minn.) had two homers in Bates' win in the opener. John O'Neill (Cumberland, R.I.) and Drew McKenna (Middleboro, Mass.) both homered in each game. Nate Maxwell (Newport, Vt.) homered in the opener and then had three doubles among his four hits in the second game. Rob Maguire (Wayland, Mass.) also homered for the Bobcats in the second game.

John Ribas (Shelton, Conn.) went the distance in the opener and had seven strikeouts. Mike Kinsman (Yarmouth, Maine) earned the victory in the second game for Bates (9-7, 3-3 NESCAC).

Tom Salemy (Odessa, Fla.) and Andy Carr (Conway, N.H.) homered in the second game for Colby (3-17, 0-6). Travis Agustin (Pearl City, Hawaii) tripled among his three hits for the Mules.
