Seniors lead Colby baseball past Thomas

WATERVILLE, Maine -

Despite missing the last eight games with a shoulder injury, Colby College's B.L. Lippert (Cony/Augusta, Maine) managed to hit a home run among his three hits to lead the Mules to an 8-2 victory over Thomas College in non-conference baseball Wednesday at Coombs Field.

Lippert was one of four Colby seniors who made an impact in their final home game. Eric Roy (Lisbon/Lisbon Falls, Maine) added two hits and a run scored, Vincent Domestico (Ashland/Ashland, Mass.) had one hit, one run and one RBI, and Phil Geiger (Brunswick/Rye Brook, N.Y.) pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to close out the victory.

After a scoreless first inning, Colby scored seven runs over the next three innings. Andy Carr (Cushing/Conway, N.H.) had an RBI single in the second inning. Tom Salemy (Cambridge/Odessa, Fla.) ripped an RBI double and Domestico had an RBI single as the Mules added two more runs in the third inning. Colby scored two runs on wild pitches and Brian Liberty (Trinity/Hollis, N.H.), who had two hits, had an RBI single in the three-run fourth inning. Lippert had a solo homer in the sixth inning.

Robert Rosenbaum (Maret School/Washington, D.C.) pitched eight innings and allowed two earned runs for the Colby victory.

Jordan McDonald (Pelham/Pelham, N.H.) had three hits and Corey Pelletier (Lawrence/Clinton, Maine) had a double and a sacrifice fly for the Terriers.
