BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College baseball team swept Colby 4-2 and 4-3 in a doubleheader on Saturday, improving their mark to 13-4 and 4-1 in NESCAC play. The Mules drop to 3-12 and 0-2 in the conference. The squads will attempt to make-up Friday's rained-out game on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Bowdoin.

In game one, Trevor Powers tossed a complete game, allowing just one earned run and Kevin Goodhue rapped three hits to lift Bowdoin to the 4-2 win. With Colby holding a 2-1 lead entering the bottom of the third, Nick Lawler singled and T.J. McLeod followed with a walk. Kevin Bougie loaded the bases with a single and Jared Lemieux and John Clifford lofted back-to-back sacrifice fly-outs to give Bowdoin a 3-2 edge. Goodhue then plated Bougie with an RBI single to make it 4-2. Powers was strong from there to pick up his third win of the season against no losses. Andrew Jenkins allowed four runs in three innings, taking the loss for Colby. Clifford had two RBI's for Bowdoin, while B.L. Lippert and Vincent Domestico each had three hits for the Mules.

Game two was nearly a carbon-copy of game one, as Colby took a 2-1 lead into the middle innings. Nick Lawler gave Bowdoin an early edge with his first career home run in the third. Rodney Ames answered in the top of the fourth with a solo shot to deadlock the game. In the top of the sixth inning, Colby took advantage of three Bowdoin errors as Ames reached on an error and came all the way around to score to give the Mules a one-run lead. Bowdoin replied quickly, however, scoring three in the bottom of the inning. McLeod singled to lead-off, and Bougie reached on an error. After a Lemieux groundout moved the runners to second and third, Clifford smacked a two-run single to give Bowdoin the lead. Tom McMahon scored Clifford later in the frame to make it 4-2 Polar Bears. Colby manufactured a run in the seventh, but the relief pitching of Andrew Nichols and Travis Dube stifled Colby, and a stellar sliding catch by Jared Lemieux preserved the win.
